We were driving with camera gear heading to a site north of Roseville when we saw a very white colored hawk on the ground being bombed by a dark red-tailed hawk. The dark bird left after a few seconds. The white colored hawk flew to a fence post and posed in the wind. Its ventral side had a few spots and these spots also formed a band near the bottom of its white belly. The head was also light. When it flew, we saw the upper wing feathers were dark brown. It took off again and moved to the top of a granite slab a bit further up the slope. Here the wind strongly ruffled the hawks belly feathers and it looked down at them a few times as if the situation was confusing. Not long after perching on the big rock, it took off and was not seen again.
