First, a visit to the burrowing owls resulted in 7 individuals being sighted. This is more than we've seen in quite a long time and makes me wonder. Do they stay out of sight deep in their burrows sometimes? Do they migrate to other spots and then return? Several were in pairs which always leads to other questions. A trusting American kestrel on a road sign was also photographed.
Second, we visited the Yolo By-Pass and drove the loop. The far eastern road was closed, perhaps due to recent rains? We were hoping for some blackbird mumurations along that route. Things were fairly quite along the driving route. A couple of stilts were photographed.
