2020 10-21 Ft Bragg – Skunk Train
-
After years of kicking the idea around, we finally took a ride on the “Pudding Creek” Skunk Train tour out of Fort Bragg. The round trip lasts about 1¼ hours and runs along the banks of the creek. It passes through estuarine and forest habitats including some redwoods. I brought my telephoto lens. Note to self: shoot wide angle next time.
Wildlife sighted included quite a few turkey vultures soaring above the canyon, one great blue heron in the water, two great white egrets also in the water, and a few ravens. Trees were dense and times and beautiful. Patches of pines were host to the “Lacy lichens” that resemble the Spanish Moss found in the deep south. Cat tails, reeds, ferns and a few wild blackberry flowers were also spotted.
It was a pleasant train ride and I recommend it.
