We drove the length of Meiss Road and found wonderful springtime vistas as well as bold Western meadowlarks.
Whereas meadowlarks are generally camera shy and wait until you’ve picked up your camera to fly away and hide, today we found three or four individuals (along with dozens of shy burds) each perched atop a fence post and so intent on singing their songs that they seem not to notice as I snapped their portraits. What a lucky day it was!
