2021 08-04 Russ Ranch
-
Russ Ranch is on the road to Grizzley Island on the far western edge of the Delta. It is a wildlife refuge and working cattle ranch. It is used to preserve the grasslands and wetlands in the area and serve as an educational outreach center.
The land was dry and brown except in the remaining channels. The weather was mild, in the low 70's, with a gentle breeze. We hiked about a mile and found some wonderful Aeromotor wind mills to photograph.
Wildlife photography was limited to a pair of white-tailed kites initially spotted perched near each other on a bush. One took flight and eventually its path took it overhead for some "looking up" shots.
