Second El Niño Surf Episode: 2016 01-07 Mugu & Ventura
A week in which our first El Niño storms have produced some needed rain. The associated swell forcast was for surf to run as high as 18 feet along west-facing beaches, and in particular, the Ventura coast. In actuality I spent the morning photographing waves and shores, and saw nothing all that huge. The swell was strong and wave trains contained large numbers of waves, but the height was not 18 feet. That being said, it was an enjoyable day of photography from Point Mugu to Ventura Pier. Along the way I stopped to shoot the ag fields of Camarillo with the snow-capped Santa Ynez range.
